I Can't Live without It!!
Everyday I get up and think how bad I just don't want to leave the house today, although I know I have to and I will! Until the day you get up and realize you cant leave the house or you are stuck at work waiting on a ride because one of the two family vehicles are in the shop! I never really think about before I could drive and wanted so badly to, or when I didn't have a car and couldn't wait to get one! I have to say that I have taken my driving privilege's for granted over the past several years. I couldn't imagine not having my own vehicle to transport my kids in or run my dreaded errands, I got a rude refresher as to what that was like when our family was down to one vehicle, even though it was only a few days it seemed like a few weeks! So next time you dread leaving the house just thank god you have your own transportation, I know I do!!

It always breaks my heart when I see people without a car standing in the rain or snow waiting for their way of transportation. Back when I worked at Goodwill there was a young girl who just started working in mid December and was already 6 months pregnant at the time. She was a sweet minded and kind hearted girl, who worked 2 jobs already to support herself, her soon to be child, and her unemployed boyfriend. Soon to find out she had no car, after work and the sun down she would walk a couple miles to the next bus stop hoping she didn’t miss her bus route. As soon as I realized this I started offering her rides to her apartment to keep her from freezing in the snow. On nights I didn’t work, another co-worker stepped up and began taking her home as well. She would always be sure to thank us, which made it worth my time and gas. After that experience I have always been thankful for being able to afford to drive.
ReplyDeleteIf I didn’t have my car I couldn’t go anywhere. I live about an hour away from ICC so there is no way I could get to school since there are no buses in the country other than school buses. When I hit a deer last year I had to go without a car for a week since all my brake lines broke when I hit the brakes to prevent hitting the deer, but I still hit it unfortunately. That week was terrible; I had dance team practice at 6 in the morning so I had to have my mom drive me to practice and ride the bus home with the little kids. I am so thankful I have a car now and it is running.
ReplyDeleteI remember when I was having problems with my car, in it was in the shop for three days. Those three days were terrible. I had to get rides from friends, always bugging them, or my parents. I remember after the first day of asking for rides, I asked my parents if I could borrow one of their three cars. They said yes, but I got the big red mini van. Although it was something to drive, I hated it. For one, I looked like a mini firetruck, and for two, I was used to driving a smaller and lower vehicle. So, driving this van was a new adventure. When I got my car back, I was never so happy to see my car.
